Kvant Architect W500B: The 500-Watt Sky Laser Taking Over Festival Skylines
Kvant's Architect W500B puts nearly 500 W of full-colour laser into a single beam. Here is what it is, how it was used at Lost Lands 2026, and what it takes to run one.

Most show lasers are measured in single or double-digit watts. Slovak manufacturer Kvant builds something in a different league: the Architect W500B, a full-colour “sky laser” that pushes close to 500 watts into a single beam. In September 2026 two of them were the talk of Lost Lands, the bass-music festival at Legend Valley, Ohio.
What the Architect W500B is
The W500B belongs to the second generation of Kvant’s Architect series. These are static-beam lasers, also called landmark lasers. They do not draw graphics or animations like a scanning show laser. Instead, they throw one huge, intensely bright column of light that can be seen from very far away. Kvant says the Architect line is visible from 20 km and beyond.
Key figures from Kvant’s product page:
- Guaranteed output: 486 W full-colour (red 637 nm, green 525 nm, blue 465 nm)
- Beam: 400 × 400 mm aperture, 3.4 mrad divergence
- Housing: IP65, built for permanent outdoor installation
- Cooling: closed-circuit water cooling with a separate chiller
- Control: Pangolin FB4 (Art-Net / DMX), plus a remote control box
- Movement: optional DMX heavy-duty platform with 350° pan, so the beam can sweep across the sky
- Safety: emission warning beacon, emission delay, magnetic interlock, electronic shutter and keyed emergency stop
A bigger sibling, the Architect W1500B, is rated at 1,500 W. According to Kvant, the motorised platform is offered only for the W500B.
Lost Lands 2026: two beams above the festival
From 18 to 20 September 2026, US company Laser Light Company ran two Architect W500B units from a laser tower at Lost Lands. Two vertical light columns rose above the stages and could be seen well beyond the festival grounds. A father-and-son technician team looked after the units for all three days.
It is a good example of how sky lasers are used at events. They are not the show itself. They are a landmark that tells the whole area where the party is.
What it means for events in Indonesia
A 500 W sky laser is not something you simply bring to a ballroom. For EOs, brands and venues thinking about one, keep three things in mind:
- Power and logistics. According to Kvant’s specs, the projector draws up to about 2,000 W and the chiller up to about 1,600 W. Together they weigh roughly 126 kg. Plan a dedicated power line or generator, a stable rigging point and access for a cooling unit.
- Airspace and permits. A beam visible for kilometres can reach aircraft. Outdoor sky-laser shows should always be coordinated with the relevant aviation authority and the local permit holders before the event. This matters especially near airports, and Jakarta, Bali and Surabaya are all busy airspace.
- Where it shines. Sky lasers suit openings, city celebrations, festivals, resort launches and landmark lighting, where the goal is to be seen from far away. For the show in front of the audience, scanning lasers (for example Kvant’s Clubmax or Atom series) controlled with Pangolin BEYOND are still the right tools.
